Basketball Coach T.J. Lux Announces Resignation

Merrillville High School announces the resignation of Boys' Basketball Coach TJ Lux.  Coach Lux, is a 1995 graduate of Merrillville and played on the Runner-Up State Championship team under Coach Jim East.  He went on to play college ball at Northern Illinois University where he earned several honors while playing for the Huskies.  TJ joined the professional ranks playing in France and earning a variety of MVP and All-Star honors for Reims and Dijon.  TJ was the head coach for the Pirates for 8 seasons starting in 2011.  His overall record was 132-67.  He won 3 sectional titles (2012, 2013, 2017), 2 regional championships (2013, 2017) and 2 final four appearances losing to Carmel in 2013 and Ft. Wayne North Side in 2017.  Under his tenure over 20 Pirate basketball players went on to play college basketball eleven of those players played at Division 1 schools.  Athletic Directors, Janis Qualizza and Amy Beckham have nothing but praise for the job Coach Lux did during his tenure with the Pirates.   "We are sorry to see TJ leave, however we understand he has other commitments.  We wish him the best and he will always be a Pirate."
