Patrick Coffey

     Coach Coffey enters his 7th season as the Pirate’s Head Track and Field Coach and his 10th season overall with the program.  Coach Coffey guided the Pirates to their second straight IHSAA Regional and Sectional Championships while capturing the Duneland Athletic Conference Championship.  Coach Coffey was awarded the 2018 Post Tribune Boys’ Track and Field Coach of the Year and has been nominated for the IATCCC Coach of the Year Award in 2018 and 2019.  Coach Coffey has guided many track and field athletes to compete collegiately in all three NCAA Levels, NAIA and NJCAA.  Also, Coach Coffey is on the IATCCC council, an Indiana All-Star Coach, and helps with Merrillville's Unified Track and Field Team. 
     Coach Coffey is a graduate of Crown Point High School (2006), and Carthage College (2010).  During high school, Coach Coffey was a multi-sport athlete, but focused mostly on hurdles and sprint relays in track where he was a two time captain and a multiple Regional Qualifier in the 300m hurdles.  After High School, Coach Coffey ran at Carthage College where his main events were the 400m intermediate hurdles and the 4x400m relay, earning multiple All-CCIW , CCIW All-Academic, and Dean’s List selections.
